The importance of having a well-moisturized skin:
Our skin is the largest organ of the human body. It covers our body and acts as a protective shield enabling the selective passage of different products, depending on their information and characteristics. This way, it offers adequate protection. If the skins have a correct moisture, they better comply with their function and show off a major form of beauty.
We have to take into account that skins are very different. For example, the facial skin is not the same as the skin of the rest of the body. Facial skin is thin and sensitive and is constantly exposed to the radiation of the sun and of UV rays. Also, its type can be differentiated according to its oily quantity (oily skins, mixed skins, dry skins…).
Why is having a good hydration so important?
As we have said, it is the organ that covers the whole body, it communicates and at the same time brings protection. It has between 10 and 20% of water in its composition. A level inferior to 10% makes the skin lose turgidity, it gets more rough and less bright. Also the use of a moisturizing cream prevents the damages of make-up and helps with the lack of perspiration that it provokes.
On the other hand, we have to take into account that the skin usually does not live in an ideal environment, the changes of temperature affect it, the air is not always clean. Thus, we have to provide it with good protection.
But… how do we properly moisturize our skin?
Firstly, a good and balanced diet: a high consumption of fats, chocolates etc promotes the appearance of spots and impurities. Stress and external factors also have an important impact.
The skins have in themselves their own moisturizing mechanism, which maintains them flexible and resistant at the same time. But, it almost never is sufficient.
We have various options to hydrate our skin. A lot of people believe that a healthy life is sufficient. But we often see country people with a very healthy lifestyle, yet with a worn out and wrinkled skin.
For basic care, the use of moisturizing creams is vital in order to maintain the levels of cutaneous moisture. Focusing on the face, there exists an infinity of moisturizing creams dedicated to this zone. Choosing a moisturizing cream as a product that is adequate to the needs of the skin is very important. The best is to primarily use products which originate from nature and with a minimal quantity of harmful substances as possible. There exist an infinity of plants (aloe vera, macadamia, shea, jojoba…) with excellent moisturizing qualities. The moisturizing cream that we are going to use has to match our type of skin – a young and oily skin does not have the same needs as a mature and dry skin. It is crucial that these creams be used constantly and daily.
In the event that we want to give more intense care – in order to get more beauty, less wrinkles and a younger skin – the first step is starting taking care of the skin while it is still young. Although we should always take into account that with the passing of time, sebaceous glands are less active and the skin loses to a certain extent the capacity to retain water and thus dries up more easily. This would happen with less intensity if skin care starts from a young age. In addition, many external agents deteriorate our skin if it is not cared for : the cold, the heat, make-up…A common error is to think that oily skins do not need moisturizing, but whether oily or dry, the skin needs support in moisturizing itself and a product that would help regulate its fat creation and fat levels.
If, as the majority of people, we start skin care later; apart from using a moisturizing cream daily, the best is to focus also on skin nutrition, which helps enormously the natural process of autoregulation of the hydration. A well-cared skin obtains this way more turgidity which helps dissimulate wrinkles and slow down skin aging. And as a result we will obtain a face that radiates much beauty and light!
In the future we will explore the way to eliminate persistent wrinkles, as it is a much more complex theme of discussion. It requires active agents which reactivate the creation of new tissues and help repair the most damaged zones.
Moisturizing the body is much more simple as the body skin is much more uniform – except that of the feet and the hands. Treating the skin of the body with a good oil or a cream which brings us nutrition should be sufficient to regulate the levels of moisture.
While in zones such as the feet and the hands, we encounter a skin much thicker and more damaged than on the rest of the body. It is characterized by the formation of keys, cracks and very dry areas. Apart from good moisture, we need a cream with a certain regenerative power in order to eliminate dead cells and to create new and healthy tissue, that can help keep the zone softer and well cared for.
